The first chapter of a life-long fantasy, tailor-made for you, is about to be written — as the first day of college inches closer. As several colleges across the state gear up to welcome new batches — many of you are excited; only you may not know what fun it’s actually going to be! Want to know how to put your best step forward when you walk through the college gates for the first time? Here’s some help.
1x1 polls

Soon-to-be-collegian Shreya Patel is barely able to contain her excitement, “I’m very excited. All of us know how life changing these years could be. I hope the first day is as great experience as I’ve imagined it to be.” And it’s indeed important that the first day is ‘a great experience’. Third year humanities student, Purnima Rao points out, “The first day in college is going to come only once in your life, so it has to be special.” She adds on behalf of all seniors who are getting ready to welcome their juniors, “Make sure you’re confident. Dress well — it helps turn heads; but don’t overdo it. Make sure to enjoy the day.”
‘Enjoy’, is the key word for a fresher. ‘Explore,’ is the other key word. Second year management student, Abhishek Gupta says, “Often as juniors, we become defensive thinking when a senior calls — it’s only for ragging. But ragging is outdated. Help seniors break ice as it’s important for you. Attitude is fine but do add an element of humility. Explore the college well, make friends.”
Be ready to learn, change and grow. Many definitions /opinions in life — that you’ll believe and endorse later on — will be floating in these very corridors of your college, ready to be embraced. Gear up folks, winters will never be this cozy and monsoons this colourful; — as your wonder years begin in that special place called college.
